Permanent Hair Removal
How does the laser hair removal work?
The laser light penetrates up to 8 mm into the skin without damaging it and is absorbed in the depth of 2-4 mm by pigments in the hair root and hair follicles . The light of the laser pulse only lasts fractions of a second - so short that all the surrounding structures are protected, but long enough for the hair follicles to be destroyed.
Which hair can be removed and for whom is the treatment?
Laser hair removal is suitable for women and men for the permanent removal of unwanted body hair. Especially dark hair with lots of pigment respond well to laser treatment. The method can in principle be applied over the whole body: lips, cheeks, chin, back, bikini line, legs, chest, abdomen etc..
How many treatments are necessary?
Laser hair removal destroys those hairs, particularly, which are in the early growth phase (anagen). Since all hairs are in different stages of growth a effective hair removal therapy requires several treatments. It also depends on the treated region of the body. We can advise you specifically about the region to be treated.
How long does the laser hair removal procedure take?
With each laser pulse an area of up to 9 millimeters in diameter, containing up to 25 hairs is treated. The treatment time depends on the size of the treated area. Lip region, chin, underarms take just a few minutes of treatment time, arms or legs correspondingly longer.
Does laser hair removal hurt?
You may feel a prickling, stinging sensation in a few places on the skin. You should feel not pain in the strict sense, since the laser application tip is permanently cooled to -2°C, so that the laser treatment is tolerated very well. At request an anesthetic cream can be applied before the treatment.
Are there any side effects?
When used correctly, the laser treatment causes no side effects except for a slight redness, a normal reaction for all laser applications. In very exceptional cases, a slight blistering or an extremely rare reversible under-or hyperpigmentation can occur. All these changes are only temporary and can be corrected.
